For men with an elevated PSA level who are thinking about getting an MRI or biopsy, our genetic test can provide helpful information.

 

It looks at up to a million gene changes that may increase the chance of getting prostate cancer, as well as rare gene changes that could raise the risk of prostate cancer, or the development of a more aggressive form of the disease (meaning cancer is more likely to spread beyond the prostate).

These genetic changes are what you are born with, and do not change over time and are not affected by diet or lifestyle. Patients at higher genetic risk of prostate cancer may benefit from earlier and more frequent screening with DRE (digital rectal examination) and PSA.

 

When combined with your age, PSA level, and your prostate physical exam results, this genetic test result may help your doctor decide whether further testing - like an MRI, biopsy, or additional PSA testing - are needed to better understand your prostate cancer risk for earlier detection.​​

A smarter way to understand your breast cancer risk for earlier detection

 

Most breast cancer gene tests look only for rare, high-risk mutations like BRCA1 or BRCA2. But many women don’t have those, even if cancer runs in the family.

​

That is why we now combine two methods:

• Monogenic testing (e.g., BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, CHEK2, ATM, etc.)

• Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) – which adds up the effect of up to a millions gene changes that also raise your risk

Far more women have an elevated polygenic risk for breast cancer than carry a rare high-risk gene mutation, meaning our testing approach can help identify and support many more women at increased cancer risk, who may otherwise go unnoticed.

Adding PRS makes risk predictions more accurate. It can change the risk level for about 1 in 5 women.

 

Sometimes, women with a high PRS have a breast cancer risk as high as someone who has a close family member, like their mother or sister, diagnosed with breast cancer. Some may find out they’re at higher risk and may benefit from breast cancer screening at an earlier age, or need more frequent checkups like annual breast MRIs.​​​
